Hire a wrestling coach. There are no short cuts.

I like Bas' advice on how to stand: http://youtu.be/5LEQJtWap0MYou could probably be less square than he shows, but that's a good starting point. Once you start sparring with wrestlers, you can adjust the stance to meet your needs. But yeah, second the advice to look for a wrestling coach and start working with wrestlers on a regular basis.

Obviously there's no replacement for a wrestling coach but...
as a former wrestler in MMA now I can tell you that the best thing for you to do is first avoid the shot entirely with lateral footwork. stepping backwards won't do whole lot as we're taught to drive through you. Much better to side step, pivot and land a good uppercut or knee. If he still gets a hold of you then you have to rely on sprawling which in a typical boxer's stance will be difficult since you're so high up. Main tips on the sprawl: 1. feet back and laces down 2. one hip goes into the ground 3. under hook one arm 4. shove their face into the mat.

Ask from a wrestling coach or an mma instructor in your area.
Basically: “You’ve got Floyd Mayweather making $25 million. He can’t stop a double-leg. I had to go to school to learn how to do that sh*t.” - Nick Diaz
No disrespect to Mayweather from me, thought that this would make sense.

You need a wrestling coach of some sort.
Also, learn to do the takedowns and practice them. When you're good at them, you'll know what to do to prevent them.

If you can control the head, you can control the rest of the body. I've never done any official wrestling, but I've seen it work in a Western Martial Arts class I used to go to. They were training in 'Ringen'. (German for wrestling) Here's a pretty good video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfuMYqfm ... re=related
