When I was a young, dumb, 20 year old soldier in Korea, I got shitfaced every chance I had. One night I drank a kettle of Soju and went from sober to drunk in about 15-20 minutes. All I remember after that is walking up to a picnic table full of soldiers and beginning to talk shit, calling them pussies, etc. Next thing I know I'm walking out an alley and two off duty MPs come up to me and ask me if I was ok. I said yeah, feelin great, and they walked me to the bus stop in Seoul where I slept until the next morning, only to find that I could only see out of one eye.

Once i got back to the barracks I found that my eye was all blackened pretty bad, so I guess I got smacked pretty hard with a beer bottle or something. I still have nerve damage in that area today, and have no memory of what took place in that alley. I could have been killed or gang raped and I would have been too inebriated to do anything about it.

Long story short... there came a point where I realized how stupid it was to deliberately dull my wits with alcohol. I made all sorts of stupid decisions... used to get drunk and fight anyone and everyone I could. I haven't been drunk now for more than 10 years, and don't miss it at all. I prefer to be sharp-witted and alert at all times. That way even if stupid shit does happen, at least I'm in the right frame of mind to deal with it.

Ignore it, her, him and that bar for a while like everyone said....I have had encounters like that...one of the reasons I don't drink anymore..and I would just look at them like I didn't know what they were talking about and swear it wasnt me...believe it or not it worked most of the time and even when the person knew I was lying( which in fairness to me was all fuzzy anyway)...would just sort of curse at me and walk away.....one time It didn't work because the guy knew me real good...i just said nothing and he spouted at me and then we walked away...I really did feel ashamed and maybe that's why he just left....

usually they are drunk too and not quite exactly sure themselves how it all exactly went down ...usually they kind just want to avoid you as well....

No, man, it's still a mystery. Getting drunk and getting into fights used to be a weekly activity back then, though... haven't been in a fight now for 14 years or so, just kickboxing sparring and rolling BJJ. I'm pretty mellow these days. I'll have a beer every now and then with a meal, perhaps if I eat at a restaurant, but no more chugging the brews.

You guys aren't strong enough to deal with booze.

I was up to 3 years when I decided to get drunk on new years, I really didn't miss it at all. In hindsight, I should have just decided to go out and have a good time and just have a few drinks.

Or maybe we are strong enough to deal with sobriety.
