Decided to base my new training max on 90% of my previous 285lb PR. The benches felt a little harder today...I do my 5/3/1 lifts with a wider grip, but I feel stronger with a medium grip so I may switch to that for next week.

Thanks man, it wasn't really a proper comp, just messing about with some guys from work. There wasn't really anyone there who could challenge me so I pretty much coasted through it.

After last nights training I know I've got 200lbs in me very soon. I just need to feel a little heat and with you breathing down my neck I'll get there sooner rather than later. I need a bit of pressure to perform at my best, just look at the 500lb deadlift thing.

MONDAY OCTOBER 11

Barbell Snatch

45 x 10
95 x 2 x 5
135 x 2 x 2
145 x 2 x1

Easing into adding some oly lifting in on my dead and squat days. I figure explosive strength is a quality I need to work on(as well as endurance) now that my base level strength is at an appreciable level. I'm still adding weight to my core lifts, but I just want to make sure I keep the athletic qualities as I get stronger.

Squat

250 x 5
285 x 5
325 x 5

225 x 20

I've narrowed my stance a bit, so now my squats are more olympic style...still ass to grass, just a little more ROM I guess since my legs are closer together.

I'm going to keep trying to add reps on that set of 225 until I hit 40ish, then add weight and start over.

Adding weight to these has been a pretty dangerous process. I think working up in singles will be a better way to use this lift, using it just to get used to heavier weights overhead.

I did some isometric presses afterward, just setting the bar at different heights with 275 loaded on the bar and pressing against it.

Barbell Cheat Curl from Floor

160 x 5
155 x 5
145 x 5
135 x 5

Seated DB Press

50 x 10, 7, 5, 6

Nice benchin/pressing man. Looks like you are going to blow that 300 away in no time. Wish my bench/press was up to snuff. Honestly, i feel like I'm making the least progress on those two lifts.

Been away from the forums for a bit to take care of some personal stuff. I took a mini vacation from working out for about a week and my joints are thanking me for it.

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 20

5 minute jog warmup
50 barbell clean and presses(with bar only)

Power Clean

135 x 1 x 5
185 x 5 x 3

These will get progressively heavier.

Deadlift

225 x 5
295 x 5
340 x 5
380 x 5

Forgot my chalk so I used a mixed grip on my sets after 295.

Weighted Decline Situps

170 x 3 x 5
170 x 1 x 8

Did last set to within a rep of failure.

Hyperextensions

85 x 3 x 10

Good to see you back, hope you took care of whatever you needed to take care of. Life is more important that lifting, take care of that first.

I'm getting close now 198.4lbs so I need an extra 0.72kg off, shame I can only do a 2.5kg increment so that'll be 203.6lbs.
