Back to the primitive...Power to the People
Deadlift
450 x 5...done rest-pause style
405 x 3

Dumbbell press @ 50lb dumbbells

Hanging leg raise 2 x 6

couldn't wait another day to start PTTP. Yesterday's squat workout re-tweeked my back. I use proper squat form, but I think at my age (45), it's time to give up the squat. My back felt fine doing the pulls today. Will hit the deads again tomorrow, then Friday to wrap up the week.

Trapbar deadlift

405 x 4

Dumbbell press @ 50lb pair
2,3,5,10

Hanging leg raise 2 x 6

I am going to stick with Power to the People, but with this change in the routine. I'm going to switch to a two-week cycle of deadlifts followed by a two-week cycle of nothing but kettlebell lifts. I've had this idea on the backburner for a while...now is the time to try it. For the deadlift portion, I'm going to perform singles PTTP style. Start with the top weight, then a set @ 90%, then several sets @ 80%. I'm going to alternate dumbbell presses with the good old side press. For the kettlebell cycle, I'm going to alternate between two workouts three times per week. Workout A will be higher volume, using the snatch, jerk, overhead squat, french press, cleans and pullover. Workout B will be the "program minimum"-turkish getups and swings. I will finish this week of deadlifts using the "Bear" singles. Next week will be the start of the kettlebell cycle. I am looking forward to see what kind of results I can achieve. It should keep me fresh physically and mentally.
