Re-enactment training.

Did some pole arm work, used my spear. Did a few exercise drills and some basic line work.

Thursday 17th May

Re-enactment training.

Not a bad session, arranged to do some full power work with someone so armoured up when I got there. We fought for a while, I had a falchion and he had a short curved sabre.

It felt like I had the upper hand and landed more quality hits. His gauntlet broke and then he changed swords. His new sword broke so we switched to polearms. I hit his elbow and number his arm so we stopped fighting and I fought someone else before the group battle at the end.

Not a bad session.

Monday 28th May

Farmer's walks:

2 bottles of water and walk up and down the street as many times as I can in 10 minutes.

I managed 8 today.

Sandbag carries:

Drape a sandbag over my shoulders and walk up and down the street as many times as I can. I lost count of how many but it is quite a few. I might have to up the weight to make it more challenging. I keep meaning to bring my maille shirt to wear but keep forgetting!

Wednesday 30th May

Sledge dragging

Once up and once down the street with a sandbag using the push grip
Once up and once down the street with a sandbag plu 20kgs using the pull grip
Once up and once down single handed with the 20kgs.

Friday 1st June

Hold dumbbell above head in left hand and run down the street
10 dumbbell clean and press with each hand
Hold dumbbell above head in right hand and run down the street
Hold dumbbell above head in left hand and run down the street
20 medball slams
Hold dumbbell above head in right hand and run down the street

Repeat.

The aim to do it 5 times in 20 minutes, currently 3 times in 17 minutes.
Sub goal - 3 times in 15 minutes.

Saturday 9th June

Training day - went down to Templecombe and fought some guys. Only 4 of us showed up but one was a very experienced fighter who took time to train us all.
Had fun - used my new melee shield and fought. Fought on the field, through a gate, across some battlements and down the other side. Fought with single sword, two handed sword and sword and shield

Tuesday 12th June
Swords only training session. Had some fun, got to do some sword fighting and training. Did not get a chance to get fully armoured which sucks but was better than nothing.

Wednesday 13th June

Slegde dragging - snapped one of the ropes so had to change the pulling action of some of the exercieses! Added 5kgs to sledge for each exercise.

Slegde dragging. I have broken one of the ropes so have modified my routine. 1 handed pull/push with a sandbag on a sledge. 6 trips up and down, 3 with each hand.

Thursday 5th July

Re-enactment training. Got there early enough to wear armour. Fought non stop in full plate with a maille shirt. Good fun but afterwards I could tell my body had forgotten what full plate was like!

Monday 9th July

10 minutes of water bucket carrying. Managed 8 reps

10 minutes of sandbag carries, change each rep from fireman carry to zerker carry

100 med ball slams - took about 3:50 minutes. I was exhausted!

Thursday 12th July

Not allowed to do pell work in the car park anymore. So I did some slow work with a bottle of water instead of a sword.

2 shot combinations covering 10 different shot types. Threw about 200 shots then did some 3 step combinations back and forth trying to commit them to muscle memory.

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th

Battle of Tewkesbury.

Absolute nightmare with the raining and mud whislt juggling 2 children (one that can only crawl).

However, Saturday's battle was lightly armoured and done by guarding our prince. Some heavy fighting, which was nice.

Sunday's battle was with my normal group, full armour (about 6 stone, maybe a little more). Got some serious heavy fighting done. One of my opponents tried to forearm smash me in the face a few times to drive me out of his line, it did not work but it was fun watching him try.

Wednesday 18th July

1 handed sledge dragging with my sandbag and a 5kg plate.
2 trips up the road and 2 trips back

100 med ball slams

100 sword shots (combinations of 2 with steps).
