Inspiration From Jon Stoklosa

Jon Stoklosa may have been born with Down’s Syndrome but that hasn’t stopped him from developing beastly strength. Jon regularly competes in powerlifting and boasts a 400+ pound bench press. If you are ever looking for weight room inspiration, Jon’s story is as good as any. I’m amazed at his ability.

  1. Looks like he’s doing his lifts without all those artificial aids like bench shirts, he’s not even wearing knee wraps. Hate to see what powerlifting has become with all those “extra” pieces of lifting equipment. How many of those 1,000lb bench pressers could bench 700lbs in a t-shirt?That is why the deadlift totals haven’t gone up as dramatically as the squat or bench, particularly the bench press. Seems like all those with Down’s Syndrome have the sweetest dispositions, IF only the rest of the population were so genuine and giving. WE could learn a lot from thesse SPECIAL people, they are truly more evolved than WE will ever be I’m afraid.

  2. Besides the obvious inspirational aspect, I find it amazing how strong folks with Down’s syndrome often burn for something and how happy they often are.
    Thanks for that.

  3. this my son. He in truly an Innocent. He works hard at lifting and everything else he does. He always is Polite.

He is so amazingly strong. The short arm allow him to go wide on a bench and have a short stroke. Can’t do that with weak arms.

I trained other young men with down Syndrome. Yes they are strong , but not as focused. and that is truly the difference.
