Inspiration from Team Long Brothers
If you’ve followed this blog for any amount of time, you’ve probably seen a few posts about Dick and Rick Hoyt. Their story is so powerful and touching that I feel obliged to regularly share it. As a father, Dick Hoyt inspired me to be the best parent that I could be. What he has done for his son is amazing. It hits me hard just thinking about it.
It’s rare that I come across any story that is even close to the Hoyt’s in terms of inspiration and impact. There is one that I recently came across however that fits the bill. The video below chronicles the amazing story of brothers Connor and Cayden Long.
If you are a parent, I will warn you. It’s not easy to get through the entire video with dry eyes. What Connor has done and continues to do is beyond incredible.
It’s nice to be reminded that there are still great people in the world.

This kinda resets your perspective. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily ‘struggles’ (if you can even call them that) of life.
Amazing kid, amazing family, amazing story.
Glad I watched this.
Well, i could not keep my eyes dry.
A lot of respect for this family
Fantastic.
Truly inspiring.. Thanks so much for sharing..
Thanks for this, Ross!
Strong stuff. I’ve seen it before, but now I have my three months old and that changed my perspective quite a bit.
Great post and accompanying quote – good stuff.
Great video
side note: Connor is pretty strong, Cayden is almost the same size as him, its a amazing achievement to finish a triathlon while pushing or pulling 3/4 of your body weight.
I’m the parent of four kids, the youngest of whom is a 2 year old with Down Syndrome. This is an amazing story of everything that’s important in life. I was sobbing. This young man has all the important stuff in life down pat.
Best line: Coach: “How’s that stitch?” Connor: “I’m okay. I got this.”
This story has completely blown me away – these children put everything in perspective and show amazing understanding of what is important in life. I am sending the link to my two grown sons. Truly a remarkable family.
