Simplistic Reaction Training Drill

Following a recent post, I’ve received several questions about other low-tech reaction drills. Fortunately, you don’t need anything too fancy to get the job done.

Take a look at the example below from Anderson Silva. Such a drill is not only effective, but also quite easy on the body. You could perform this type of work daily without interfering with the more intense sport work that must also be performed.  This drill could even be useful as a brief warm up. All that you’ll need is a few minutes.

I like it! Very good- maybe a little larger ball as a regression?

Great, i was watching it and it inspired me to add this on to get this on my list of warm – ups before extreme sports.

Cool, so many ways to develop it.
Make the ‘dodger’ strike (kick or punch or combo) each time they have ‘dodged’
Get two ball throwers side by side to speed up the projectiles cooming at the ‘dodger’.

the mind is going wild with ideas for this

Training for reaction in MMA is crucial,by watching Anderson flowing like that, you realise that why he fights so relaxed.

Definitely flowing like that saves you a lot of effort during a fight. I’ll add this more frequently to my training sessions.

Great drill—-I could easily modify this to use with infielders to help with reaction time on line drives.
