    This is an inspirational blog.

Ross-have you ever thought about doing a fitness manual for soldiers?

That’s a large demographic and someone with your vast knowledge of fitness could educate and inform most if not all as you walk the walk and talk the talk.

An old retired Officer I know told me soldiering is different today for Americans-it’s more close quarters than traditional style (humping it for miles out in the woods or jungle) so that’s more like a cop mentality-the need to react and be aggressive in tight quarters as opposed to the traditional drawn out wilderness experience. It seems like the difference between sprinting and jogging. I think it would make for a good book and to cover the fitness needs for both styles of soldiering.

From what my military friends tell me army PT isn’t really that great so it makes sense that a lot of soldiers get into crossfit and certainly could benefit from Ross’ books. I’m not sure what goals army people have that Ross doesn’t cover in his existing books, though.

What about new recruits? There’s a crowd of potential soldiers. High school boys who don’t know how to workout.

I put it this way-if you are above High School age-don’t you wish now you had fine products, and methods like Ross’s to work out with? I know I do.

Although, the boxing gym I used to frequent was small potatoes, the pro fighters there though I was a pro-fighter too when training. I’m a fitness enthusiast but, my passion for boxing style exercise does not change my intensity when training. Ross’s methods work. Period.

Everybody (including future grunts) could benefit from this, and if Ross could get together with some military people I know he could help them further develop physically and develop an excellent product geared towards the fitness needs of the military community.

Like I’ve said, Ross was born for this man. The best. Period. He could create another Mike Tyson if he had a kid with talent.

Ross, as always, you have a knack for finding great clips. The Maori Haka always gets my blood flowing. If you ever get a chance to watch the All Blacks (New Zealand national side) play rugby, the best part is Haka they do before the game. Rugby and the Haka may make a great pair.

Damn, if ever I’m in need of a kick in the ass to get out into the cold morning to get on with roadwork with vigour and honest enthusiasm, I’m coming back for a repeat performance. Good work.

The beginning was BAD. Those guys were brain washed. Being brain washed is no way to be. You need to be able to think for yourselves, if you want to win.

  13. AlexMac December 26th, 2010 6:42 am

Sorry Walt but the Haka is not about being brain washed. It is about expressing your passion and pouring your heart and soul into a war dance that will send shivers of fear through your opponents. If you had ever faced off a Haka in full force you would not be speaking of players being brain washed you would speak of how you shat your pants as they stared into your eyes and defyed you it is something no video can portray fully. I have both performed and faced off a Haka so i know, please dont speak unless you have experience in the matter, cheers :)

    awesome find Ross thanks!

Alex, don’t let Walt get to you. Every comment I’ve ever seen with him is filled with nonsense. He’s mad at life.

Another solid clip. Thanks for sharing.

A great combination of sports inspirations. I think the mix and match of different personalities, plus the music is great. Anyone will be inspired after watching this. I like the speeches in particular.

    Cheers

Regarding the Haka, as an Aussie I’ve always been envious of Kiwis having that to fire them up – all our sporting sides can do is stand and try to stare down the guys doing the Haka – and that’s hard to do even from the safety of my couch at home! If you’re interested in that sort of thing, quite a few Pacific Island nations have similar war dances/ceremonies – but I think the Haka is the most intimidating.

Great video, it certainly picked me up on a day when my passion has been waning.
