Gatti was a warrior, no doubt about it. He wasn't the most skilled or technically sound boxer, but he took whatever talent he had and squeezed every last drop out of it. His title defense fight against Wilson Rodriguez in March of 1996 (Gatti - 6th Round KO) was the first time I watched him fight, and he instantly became my favourite boxer. He remained so until his death. His heart and determination won out over many opponents who had the edge in talent. Win or lose, he was just so much fun to watch. There won't be another like him.

Arturo Gatti is my idol. I saved my pennies to fly over to Atlantic City to see him against Mayweather. Although he was past his best and he was fighting an exceptional fighter who was at his peak I still feel privilaged that I got to see him fight live. He's the reason I started boxing and hence the reason I love my training, the reason I visit this site!! Arturo Gatti is an all time legend, a warrior in every sense of the word. Those fights with Rodriguez, Ruelas, Robinson and of course Ward are some of the best fights you'll ever see.

RIP Arturo 'Thunder' Gatti, boxing isn't the same without him.
