An excellent Bruce Lee documentary was recently posted to my Facebook page. Below you will find a preview to the film.
The entire documentary can be seen on Youtube. The first of ten parts is embedded below.
A complete playlist for all 10 parts can be found next:

Although his accomplishments and abilities are perhaps the most debated topic in the martial arts community, I believe we can all agree that Bruce Lee was a pioneer and a tremendous influence to other fighters around the world, both past and present. I’m sure I speak for many when I say that I grew up watching and reading about Bruce Lee. He was certainly an inspiration to me.
In his own words,
“Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, add what is uniquely your own.”

This perfectly complements my day as I just watched Ip Man 1&2 today, funny how that works sometimes. And for those who don’t know, Ip Man is the one who taught Bruce Lee Wing Chun.
As for Bruce Lee himself, he never ceases to inspire me. In my vision a true student of life, training and martial arts.
Bruce Lee was just an incredible martial artist.
His book, the Art of Expressing the Human Body, is one of my favourite training manuals (along with Infinite Intensity, Never Gymless and Starting Strength).
He has some of the best quotes

Ross,
Here’s another movie about Bruce Lee, it’s called “The real Bruce Lee” and is a full feature film on youtube. About 100 minutes long but in one piece. I haven’t seen the whole thing myself though.

And Quintin, you are right to watch Ip Man. Great movies!

Movies tend to make someone appear twice his size. I don’t find anything particularly special in Bruce’s books.I would rate him equal to Arnold shawarzenneger but not equal to Gamma wrestler.
Although i would still not want to take his punch.
Furqan, Bruce himself would have told you he is nobody special at all but merley a finger pointing towards the moon…don’t stare at the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory!
Bruce was 20 years ahead of his time, he was training in ways that nobody at that time was doing. He broke with tradition, cross trained, used what worked, threw out what didnt, and added what was uniquely his own. He was the first glimpse of MMA but in more of a street oriented sense. If nothing else the mindset alone was revolutionary to spirituality, martial arts, and physical training in general.
I owe alot to him for helping open up my mind when i was young…he helped me not to get so tangled up in the “classical mess” as he would call it.
I feel that many things I have become interested in over the years were directly or indirectly influenced by the things that he talked about. Religion, healing, martial arts, music, cooking, living daily life for me were all influenced by that open mindedness of using what worked, discarding what didnt, and adding what was uniquely my own. In essence, it was simply to simplify and break free from all the dogma that we as humans get so wrapped up in at times.
Thank you Bruce!
Always thought Bruce Lee either got way to much credit by some, and way to little by others.
He was definately a man ahead of his time. Back in the 70s, I remember well, it was always “My style is superior to yours” Hell, martial arts films were often based on it!!!
Bruce was one of the first to publicly say “Let me learn your kicks, they are awesome! And you, the boxer, what great punches! Can you teach me?” and break the confines of doing it only ONE WAY.
At our club we often remind ourselves “All that can be learned will not be found under this roof” and we encourage our students to train at other clubs as well if they so wish. Bruce is what made that acceptable!
So, hats off to the guy
Plus, he has some bad ass philosphy that I love.
I have to agree that Bruce Lee changed the whole idea of martial arts with “no way being the way”. As for wing Chun lessons with Ip Man, I have heard Bruce Lee only learned the first form then left. Ip Man, did not teach him the rest. Nonetheless Bruce was way ahead of his time. For a person who only had 32 years on this planet, he came up with revolutionary ways of thinking. Its a shame we didn’t get to see him as he aged. I can only imagine what philosophies he would have given us today.
