Inspiration From Rocky!

Recently, I was fortunate to take take my son to the famous Rocky steps in Philadelphia.  I felt like a kid as we climbed the stairs together.  It brought me back to my childhood when I first watched the original Rocky movie.

I’m sure that I wasn’t the only kid who watched the original movie and was immediately inspired by the story.  I still enjoy watching the original film.

How can anyone not enjoy watching some classic Rocky footage?   Or what about training to the old Rocky soundtracks?   My wife and I were even introduced at our wedding reception to Gonna Fly Now!

There are several Rocky compilations available at Youtube.  Below is one that contains footage from several of the movies.

It may be just a movie, but it is a movie that got plenty of youngsters involved in the sport of boxing.  It certainly piqued an interest in me that is still as strong as ever.

It’s just a classic film all round isn’t it. Some brilliant scenes and quotes (the bit where his brother in law slings the turkey out the window and the line “I’m just a ham and egger” come to mind)… Stallone’s story of how he came to make it is just as inspiring as the film. He’s still the man, HGH or no!

Ah, that shot of Rocky running alongside the ship is just the best, I never get tired of it.

For me it was also this great Rocky movie what started me up doing what I’m good at. It was also ‘Rocky’ Stallone again who started me up after my car crash. Great post this, and I think you inspired me also to write about this great motivation.

Stallone was my biggest hero growing up. Could never get enough of Rocky and Rambo! lol He’s a really genuine person off the set also.

That’s really cool. That is one of those things that are on the “do with my son” list that only a father & son would ‘get’ the importance of.
    Touching!

I love the Rocky movies. Gonna Fly Now and Eye of the Tiger really get my blood pumping. I love in Rocky II when Adrian wakes up in the hospital and asks Rocky to win and Mickey yells, “Well what are we waiting for?”, and they start the training montage. Gives me goose bumps everytime.

    Great stuff.

It’s amazing how a story can inspire, and how easily our memory can be triggered.

For example, when you see someone eating raw eggs or training in a sweater — you immediately think “ROCKY!”

When you hear certain songs or see certain images, it also conjures that Rocky- feeling.

It makes me wanna take over the world!

Another winner of a post Ross.

Boxing is in my families blood, so a bit biased I suppose. But `that` sound track makes my hair stand up by the end of the first note and around 2:02 revs me up some more.

Re Adrian, had tears in my eyes and adrenalin flooding the veins just thinking about it.

Every boy/girl should have the benefit of the `life is tough` speech at sometime in their life.

I play it to myself sometimes for a reality check.

One of the most inspirational movies series ever. I’ve seen them all several times and always watch at least part of the movie when on TV.
Here’s a few of my favorite lines:
    Yo Adrian
    My ring’s outside.
Hey Tommy , I didn’t hear no bell!
I’m not just another bum from the neighborhood
    Butkus
Hey Mick how come I don’t got a locker,Do you wanna know .Yeh I wanna know!
