Power lifting takes true fortitude and her story was amazing. I love to see people dream and say "I can" versus having reasons to justify "I can't"

That's great to hear about her. She's came back through a lot of adversity to make it to these games. I'm glad to read such an inspirational story.

This is truly an inspirational story on varying levels. Here is a woman who is an elite athlete, sitting on top of the world, only to have that world come crashing down around her. The thing that she loved most, training and competing, was erased from her life. Instead of giving up, she persevered, rose to the challenge, and overcame insurmountable odds, all while being a mother, a wife, and raising a son with autism (which in itself is very difficult). For any of us who think that our lives are too complicated or do not afford enough time to train, it's time to stop whining.

Good luck and God bless Melanie in Beijing. I'll definitely be watching.
