Great post. I agree with Reckless. Whenever I see an overweight or old person working out, it puts a smile on my face. They may feel awkward or embarrassed, but to me they're heroes. This guy is an awesome inspiration. Especially happy for his daughter. She gets to have her dad around when she grows up. That's worth any sacrifice or 'lifestyle' change.

My work as a health trainer for the NHS in Britain revolves around those exact principles. Keying into someone's motivation and stimulating it combined with a plan devised with Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time related goals. Also making contingency plans for things that might go wrong and working around barriers and negative influences.

Low self-esteem and lack of confidence is probably the biggest barrier facing people who wish to improve their health and more needs to be done to help people realise their potential.

Reading that story and other like it puts a huge smile on my face.

A lot of people laugh when they see a large person working out. I dont. I tells me a lot about the content of their character.

I just wish more people would realise that their weight and ultimately health is in their hands.

What an inspirational story. It's great to see someone make that kind of large loss. It definitely speaks to everyone out there that it is more than possible to shed excessive pounds. Great post!
