The Legend of Cliff Young
The link below was recently passed my way. I couldn’t help but enjoy the story. I had never heard of this man or the event, but certainly found the story both motivating and entertaining.

Great post Ross…what a heroic man he was.
Holy fricking cow!! That is an amazing story, from how he won to how he changed the race permanently. People now run five days straight without sleeping!
I like the fact that he entered without ever measuring himself against anyone else. He had nobody telling him what was possible, and nothing telling him what his limits should be.
No mental blocks, no stressing over goals hit or missed, no feeling bad about losing out to anyone.
What an athlete, and what a kind soul…
What struck me most about this was the fact that no one told him he should sleep so he didn’t, just goes to show you that sometimes what you don’t know doesn’t hurt you.
Ross, this is a great story. So often people stop before they even attempt a challenge because they listen to the critics including themselves who say it cant be done. I admit until recently I was my own worse critic. Like your last post I had tons of excuses: I cant lose weight, my blood pressure is not that bad, the gym was to far etc. A friend of mine turned me on to NG and realized that I was just making excuses. With the obesity epidemic we are facing more people need to see the last couple of post you have made and get out there.
NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!!!
This guy has changed the way a race is ran and i stand and applaude you Cliff Young.A very courageous and tenacious man who was doubted by most and went on to defy all.RESPECT.
Great blog entry Ross.
Absolutely amazing. Unbelievable. This man was one of the greatest athletes.
Cliff Young was an Australian Distance Running Legend.
However most probably Australias greatest, if not one of the worlds greatest is Yiannis Kouros. Website :

See E Book which mentions Legends Cliff Young and Yiannis Kouros at the following link below.
Note: Melbourne to Sydney = 1160 Km, 730 Miles
By Car – 14 hours,
By Foot ? Kouros holds the record – He ran for 5 days 2 hours.

No, no way….He never use kettlebells, never studied Tabata intervals. Impossible…..What a story. No excuses for me not to exercise.
