More Steroid Problems…

Several months ago, I posted the following blog entry:

Steroids In Vitamins

Within ^ this entry, the following report was referenced:

Drugs In Sport

Unfortunately, it appears that this trend has continued.  Below is a more recent news report which tells the exact same story:

Supplements Contain Steroids

As stated within the most recent study, steroids are often found in over the counter dietary supplements.

What does this mean?  Well, as a coach or athlete, you need to know what you are taking or prescribing.  Your career can be RUINED by taking what you believe to be a legal supplement.  No one will care whether or not you knew.  You’ll always be labeled as a cheat.

If you don’t know what you are taking, don’t take it.

Stay clean and stay strong,

Ross

One has to wonder if this is what happened to Sean Sherk–while his physique might make some folks wonder if he really does use steroids, everything I know about the guy says that there’s no way he’d ever knowingly put an unhealthy substance in his body. This is a little spooky.

Wow, talk about an eye opener. I gave up supplements in favor of vitamins, fish oil and hard work. I would have never thought that industries where sneaking this B.S. in them. Great post.

Awesome post. I agree…good healthy grass fed meats, a great diet, fish oils, vitamins and pain are enough to become an elite athlete. A good friend of mine actually works for Champion Nutrition and he told me about this study before it was released because they contacted his company. His was one of only four protein powders that did not have crap in it. Sorry, it sounds like I am advertising but he claims they have remained a smaller nutrition company to continue putting out good product. I still am not huge on supplements.

Again, WOW. Shocking. This was an eye opener. Other than whey protein, fish oil & flax, I only occasionally use supplements if I see something interesting. Most recently I experimented with a product called Horse Power by Ultimate Nutrition. I experinced benefits from it and to be honest now I wonder if it falls into that 11% catagory.

I pride myself on my commitment to healthy living, clean diet etc. This is BIG NEWS.
