Speed Bag Training
A few years ago, Alan Kahn (Speed Bag Central) contributed an article to RossBoxing.com that focused on speed bag training for the beginner.
Speed Bag Basics for the Beginner
The speed bag is a great piece of equipment for hand-eye coordination and rhythm. In addition to these performance benefits, the speed bag introduces a fun factor. It’s one of those activities that does not feel like “work”. It’s fun to hit the speed bag and master new techniques.
So, while the speed bag won’t teach you how to fight and isn’t actually specific to true punching technique, it is still useful as a supplement to a more complete training program.
For those who believe speed bag training is limited, take a look at the video below (of Alan Kahn).
Several additional videos are located at Alan’s main Youtube page:

the rythm that the bag is making sounds like a mrching band snare drum!! and it is actually a really good beat!!!
very good at the speed bag. But are these speedbag experts any good at boxing or do they just focus all their time on speedbag trickery. I think it can be easy to get caught up on one aspect of boxing training. I’m sure there are jump rope experts, double end bag experts, and all that.
